About shell in Norway |
|
| We
have a coastline which we just recently have begun to use. Some decades
ago we started with production of fish. Now we have began to think new.
Not so many years ago some people started with production of shell. Our
coasts have many fjords with natural cliffs. Therefore is our coast very
potensial to this type of shell production. Norway can produce many hundred
tons of shells. The most common shelltypes here in Norway is blueshell,
kamshell and oysters. When you are starting a shell cultivation you must
check the water for potential poisonous alleges. This alleges can be poisonous
to humans if you eat much of it. Then the man who owns the farm can be punished
with a big fine. Then he must throw away the whole harvest, then he could
lose much money. Shell cultivation is a work you can make money in. Because
of our long tradition with using the sea, there were built very good roads,
fish treatment facilities, harbours, electricity. This is what we expect
to be as a matter of course. But this is not what it is with our "enemies".
In countries like Chile and Canada they have long coastlines, but most
of it is outside the vast wilderness. So they can't reach the coastline.
They don't have a good infrastructure.
