The container includes:

1) A SAMPLE OF SAND and a proposal to survey littoral sediments with a microscope.

2) A SONG: Mediterraneo, by Joan Manuel Serrat.
Songs and poems are seen as powerful means of depicting our seas.

3) A COAST WATCHING INSPECTION of 500 metres of Sant Carles de la Ràpita shore tries to describe the current and ongoing activities in our coasts.

4) A LOCAL RECIPE as a means of symbolising how
fishing is an essential part of our culture.

5) A SELLING LABEL FROM THE LOCAL FISH MARKET serves us to give you some data about the local fishing industry significance in relation to the whole country.

Each object, numbered from 1 to 8, has a card attached. The cards are included into a ring folder beside an extra card containing some information about the Mediterranean Sea and the Ebro delta nearby sea. All these cards aim to give pupils :

- A piece of information about the object.

- A short guide to analys

e the object as a way to find out what the object (or what is symbolized by means of the object) has in common with your sea or, if this is the case, in what sense it is different.

6) A LITERATY TEXT explains the improvements in the local fishermen’s standard of living through the introduction of technology in fishing. But also it introduces you to the problems originated by both, the overfishing and the catch of immature fish.

7) A VIDEO CD that shows the effects of the Spanish hydrological plan on local fishing industry.

8) Our shore management model is analysed by means
of TWO PICTURES.

We encourage you to add your pupils’ work in the ring folder. But also new objects in the container that enable to other pupils to realize about the complexity of the relationships
symbolized by means of them: a sample of sediments from your shore, a song or a poem depicting your sea, your own coast watching inspection, a local recipe, something to show the significance of fishing industry in your area, pictures describing the management of your nearby shore… One of our main goals is pupils being stimulated to inquiry, to face
challenges, to launch proposals.
